As you prepare your lesson, ask yourself what information and skills your students already have and use that to enhance the lesson with student centredness.
For example, in a reading exercise I would create summary statements that develop the sequence of incidents.
Get students to read the text in groups and place the statements in sequence. As they collaborate on this, you may have to provide guiding questions and direct their interpretation of the text. However, they find the meaning on their own and you guide this with your specialist knowledge.
Think about lesson planning to get students to do work in groups. Get rid of rows of desks and arrange the desks in groups. Move students around (pair work, groups of three, bigger groups and reporting back to the whole class at stages of the lesson).

That is the methodology. The purpose is to have lessons and classroom management that gets students talking to each other - practicing real English skills.
The teacher must change mindset from standing out the front and telling them what to think, to letting them DO and patrolling the room, checking, monitoring and helping.
